Early farmers settled in the area in the late 19th century and grew wheat, cotton and other crops. With the construction of paved roads, the nearby city of Justin – located just west of Argyle, Bartonville and Double Oak – became a shipping point for these agricultural products. All four communities still boast friendly, tight-knit atmospheres and relatively undeveloped natural landscapes. Although the towns are conveniently located just outside the Dallas/Fort Worth metroplex, most of the residential properties in the region are ranches or estates with acreage. Argyle, Bartonville, Double Oak and Justin are situated in the southwestern portion of Denton County, approximately 25 miles from Fort Worth and somewhat further from Dallas. Major roadways nearby include I-35 and U.S. Route 377. Locals make use of nearby lakes, lush city parks and trails for outdoor recreation. The proximity to Dallas and Fort Worth provides easy access to dining, nightlife and cultural and sporting events.
