The small populations of Argyle, Bartonville, Double Oak and Justin are conducive to a family-oriented community lifestyle. Bartonville is the smallest of the four towns. Residents are encouraged to get involved in local government by attending weekly Town Council meetings. Argyle and Double Oak are equally welcoming, and hold council meetings every other week.
Denton County residents enjoy 300-plus days of sunshine each year. This mild climate is well-suited to an active lifestyle that includes a wide range of outdoor recreational activities. There are several golf courses, horse tracks and major lakes nearby. Lake Lewisville and Lake Grapevine offer a variety of water sports, including fishing, boating and water skiing. The Trinity Trails System in Denton is used for walking, hiking, biking and horseback riding. There are also a number of local city parks with baseball fields and other facilities. Sports enthusiasts may attend professional football, hockey, basketball, baseball and indoor soccer games in Dallas. Professional teams in the area include the Dallas Cowboys, Dallas Stars, Dallas Mavericks and the Texas Rangers. Argyle, Bartonville, Double Oak and Justin also have four airfields nearby for business, commercial and recreational aviation. Six miles southwest of Argyle is the Argyle Northwest Regional Airport, serving private planes. Denton Municipal Airport is 10 miles to the north and Fort Worth Alliance Airport is nearby. Frequent travelers make use of the Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport. Residents of Justin – a town just west of Interstate 35 – are located very close to the renowned Texas Motor Speedway. Situated at the intersection of I-35 and Texas 114, the speedway is a very popular destination for racing fans. In addition to hosting a number of major racing events, it offers tours and hosts charity events. Residents of Argyle, Bartonville and Double Oak are also within proximity to the speedway. |
